Thompson Rivers University is rich with opportunities for every student, whether they want to dig deep through undergraduate or graduate research, get hands-on experience in a co-op program, develop skills in a trade, get credit for prior learning and work experience, or earn a bachelor or master's degree. TRU fosters undergraduate research opportunities and excellence in teaching. The university is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and has won national teaching awards in 2018, 2019 and 2020. TRU is also the first Canadian university to achieve platinum ranking with the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. Thousands of students thrive on TRU's expansive main campus in beautiful Kamloops, BC. New, state-of-the-art buildings recently opened such as the Industrial Training and Technology Centre and the Chappell Family Building for Nursing and Population Health. The smaller Williams Lake campus offers a more intimate educational setting for programs that include the unique Applied Sustainable Ranching diploma. TRU students choose from more than 140 programs on campus and 60 programs online through Open Learning, or a blend of both. Students come from the around the world and throughout the region, including 10 percent who are Indigenous and 30 percent who are international. Outside of classes, students can cheer on the WolfPack varsity teams, join more than 80 clubs or take advantage of pine-shaded hiking trails close to campus and neighbouring ski hills and lakes.
